Question for Spitfire boffins

I have the Airwaves Seafire XV conversion, and at the moment I’m trying to build my way through every Mark of Spitfire, then PR Spitfires. SO as of yet I don’t intend building a Seafire, so my question is this…
Did the Seafire XV utilize the same mark of Griffon engine as the Spitfire XII, because if so I can then save myself some pennies for the time being and use the conversion set on a spare Tamiya Vb to create the XII

The Seafire XV was based on the Spitfire XII, which was based on the Spitfire Vc, not the Vb. So you’ve got some conversion wing work to do if you go that way. I don’t know the Airwaves conversion, so I’m not aware if it contains the wing parts or not.
They both used the same Griffon and propeller

The Seafire XV has symmetrical underwing radiators, the Mk.XII as a radiator on one side and the oil cooler on the other. Some Mk.XIIs have a fixed tailwheel and some retractable. Other than that, I think it is only the specifically naval mods: strengtheners, folding wings, hook and catapult spools.

Don’t forget the bulge centered between the rocker covers on the top of the nose. Teardrop shaped – it’s on the Mk. XII’s but not on the Seafire XV’s.
