RCAF Mustangs

I am building a post-war RCAF Mustang and have a question regarding the interior colour. I vaguely recall reading somewhere, some time ago that the Mustangs purchased from the U.S. by Canada, during the 50’s had interiors which had been repainted in black. I think it had something to do with the interiors of U.S. Mustangs having been repainted around the time of the Korean War.
Does this sound plausible to anyone, or can anyone provide some conclusive info?

Randy, I’m surprised that you haven’t walked down to the Aviation Museum at Rockcliffe and checked out 9298. It’s a stock RCAF Mustang expect for the spurious camouflage. How about letting us all know what you find!

I tried that a while back and they would not let me on the wing to look inside. They are pretty protective in the Museum. In any case, I will try again. Maybe if I hit a different person, the results will be different.

The RCAF Mustangs were over sprayed matt black in the cockpit area and the upper area around the rear cockpit fuel tank area canopy framing was all matt black inside the overspray still left areas of interior green to be seen especially around the rudder peddle area’

Randy, wasn’t it the other way round?

Didn’t the RCAF sell their Mustangs to the USAF for Korean use?

Not sure. Canada purchased 130 Mustangs with the majority being delivered in the early 50’s. Would this not eliminate the possibility of Canadian Mustangs going south?
