Can anyone supply information on the cockpit and wheelwell colours for post-war
RCN Sea Furies and/ or Avengers? Is there a good referance on-line or in print?
Thanks in advance.

Post war Canadian Avengers were radically reworked from factory specs, so almost
anything could go. Avengers from Grumman's factory were Bronze Green inside,
while GM Avengers (TBMs) were interior green. I'd say lacking other
evidence, I'd go with interior green.

I know the wheel wells, inner gear doors and landing gear legs on both aircraft
were definitely the same colour as the underside colour for the later schemes
(Extra Dark Sea Grey over Sea Grey Medium), so paint the wheel wells and landing
gear on both aircraft Sea Grey Medium if you are modelling that scheme. The
earlier schemes (all blue Avengers and FAA coloured Sea Furies) varied depending
on overhaul/refit status. In general, it is safe to say that all the Sea Furies
had wheel wells, inner gear doors and even the gear legs all painted the same
colour as the underside camouflage colour. The Avengers were a mixed bag.
As per the other post, all the Sea Fury Cockpits were shades of black. The
Avengers were a mixed bag.
