Old Business

Welcome to 2005!  Jamie noted that our last Exec meeting was in November 2004, not counting the December gathering at a local pub to celebrate the coming of Christmas.

National Director

Jamie announced the sad news of the demise of IPMS CanUKS in the UK.  They gave it a good go, but it just didn't work out for them.  We wish them well in their future club activities and hope they are able to continue under the IPMS UK umbrella.

In the ongoing search for new blood for the Executive, Jamie has contacted several candidates for several undetermined positions.

In a related story, John MacDonald is looking at retirement from the National Executive, having served in various capacities since 1977!  John didn't announce any post-retirement plans yet, and we still have some time to organize a smooth transition to a new Minister.

RT Editor

Jamie pointed out that RT 29/2 this was our best-looking RT in a long time, at least from a quality control point of view. Our proactive approach with the printer (read as thinly veiled threats) must be working.

RT 29/3 will have articles on an Mustang Mk.IV, the Me 262, and the Vespa SPG.  The Editorial team is looking at having a finished issue printed and ready for stuffing in the third week of March.  Another article for later in the year may be some material on the Mustang Mk.III in use by 441 Sqn.

The Editors are aiming and hoping to keep to a production schedule which will put RT 29/6 in the mail in time for Christmas 2005.  Although t
he favourable feedback from members for the idea of going to a quarterly production schedule for RT, no decision has been reached yet, but this Vol 29 Production schedule would put us in a position to possibly launch a quarterly RT starting in the first quarter of 2006. One major hurdle to the quarterly idea (and indeed one of the problems with putting out six magazines) is to get more members to submit more articles for the magazine.

It may be observed that RT 29/2 highlighted the crucial need for a thorough proof reading of RT before it goes to press.  The Editors will have to work this into their production schedule to allow this to happen at something less than a hectic pace.

Membership/Circulation

With RT 29/1, 104 renewals went out, and we've received back only 75 as of this writing.  To offset the 29 who didn't renew, we did pick up 22 new members, but this downward trend is not a good thing.

Related to the above, it was noted that RT 29/2 was mailed out to only 556 members.

To see what the members want and expect from membership in IPMS Canada, another survey is being considered.  Steve Sauve will dust off the old survey and trim it down to what we'd really like to know from the membership.

Special Projects

After 15 years on the shelves, the last of our 1/72 decal sheets have finally been sold off!

A lot of decals have been sold since the last meeting, making a significant dent in our stockpile.
