Order Number 1/72: 72-014

Those of you familiar with Albatros Modelworks decals know that they have established a reputation for producing some of the flashiest markings featuring interesting and risqué nose art and this newest release entitled 'Naughty Invaders' is no exception. This set offers exceptional value as it provides markings for 11 different A-26 Invaders from 8 different countries or branches of service, in a diverse selection of paint schemes. Once opening the zip lock bag the first thing that strikes you is the variety of markings contained in this decal set and as you look further into the contents, you suddenly realize that there are 4 full-size decal sheets in the package along with full colour instructions. In terms of printing, the colour registration is perfect and all colours have excellent density, with no visible flaws evident. I have not used these particular decals, but having used the Albatros Sexy Lanc decals, I can tell you that they respond very well to small amounts of Solvaset setting solution and will conform to all surface irregularities

As a bonus, a resin nose is included for use on the Biafran machine, however in my sample the nose is a tad rough and the scribing is a little inconsistent and as a result I would rate the resin nose as being of average quality.

The selection of markings include the following aircraft:

1) A natural metal Portuguese A-26B of Esquadrilha Os Diablos, BA9, Luanda, operating in Angola during 1973.

2) An all black Korean War USAF A-26B, flown by Major Robert Fortney of the 13th BS early in 1952.

3) An all black A-26B, of the 13th BS flown by Captain Tony Curto, while based at Iwakuni AFB in Japan during 1952.

4) An overall black Armée De L'Air A-26C of CIB.328, based at Constantines, Algeria in 1958.

5) A green and tan camouflaged Biafran Air Force A-26B based at Enugu in July 1967. This machine was flown by RAF WWII Polish ace Jean Zumbach and Ernest Ike during the Nigerian War.

6) A natural metal CIA A-26B engaged in Operation Pluto and Flown by Captain Gustavo Ponzoa, on 15 April 1961 at the beginning of the Bay of Pigs invasion.

7) A midnight blue Honduran A-26B based at Tegucigalpa during March 1976 and used for public display to remind the Salvadorian agents that the Invader had the capability to reach San Salvador at night.

8) A tan and green USAF B-26K engaged in Operation Steel Tiger in Laos from 1966-1969. It was based at Nakhon Phanom, Thailand.

9) A natural metal Indonesian Air Force A-26B of Squadron 1, at Abdurachman Salah, Malang, Java. Used for tactical air support interdiction and long range reconnaissance. This particular a/c made its last flight on 7/12/1977, making it the last fully armed B-26 in military service anywhere in the world.

10) A B-26K of the Congolese Air Force. It is finished in an emerald green over light grey scheme.

11) A CIA B-26K, marked as an aircraft of the 21 ieme Escadrille, while based at Albertville in 1966-67. This aircraft is painted the same as #10 above.

This decal package has a manufacturers suggested retail price of $30.92 Cdn.
